Shilling Hill Salt Hopper

Shillinghill Highways Maintenance Depot

The existing Rock salt hopper at Shillinghill Highways Maintenance Depot was completely dismantled and removed from site. The existing head house structure was retained for reinstalling to the new replacement hopper. A new hopper complete with support structure was supplied and manufactured to sit onto the exiting foundations. The existing head house was installed on top of the new hopper and was fitted with new cladding / purlin rails as required. The new head house was re-cladded and new rainwater goods were fitted as required. The existing access stairway that leads from the operator’s access platform up to the salt barn level was replaced with a new stairway complete with intermediate rest platform and supports.
