BMX Footbridge, Manchester Sportcity (Waterways)

This project involved manufacture and installation of a 28m span footbridge over a canal at the Manchester Velodrome. Production of 3D model and fabrication drawings; value engineering; supply of materials including bearings; surface finishing using an approved anti-vandal system; transportation; installation of pre-cast concrete planks which formed the bridge deck and installation of the completed bridge over a canal during a water closure. Contract particulars stipulated requirements to utilise locally sourced resources and offer further development opportunities to semi-skilled employees and apprentices.
